January 1 marks one of the biggest changes to the rules of golf in some time, outlawing the practice of anchoring your putter. Are your ready for these changes?

“Are You Ready for the Changes coming January 2016?”

We all agree Golf is  a fun game that tests your skills and abilities against a golf course and what it presents to you daily.  If you are anchoring your putter, the amount of fun you experience will change in just 4 short months, possibly in a direction you do not want to experience.  Are you ready to do away with the anchor you’ve been using to make your putting more consistent?  Are you ready for the changes the USGA is throwing at the golfer having fun, who is anchoring your putter?

If you are the casual golfer, interested more about fun versus competition, stick with anchoring your putter.  The positives doing so far outweigh the negatives.  Anchoring has its place in golf, for those with disabilities who have a difficult time putting due to small muscle coordination, or those individuals with poor eyesight.  So long as the people you are playing with agree that anchoring is okay with them, before the first shot is hit, go right ahead and continue with what you are doing, anchoring your putter so you have fun and enjoy the game!

But what if you do decide to play in the club championship one day, or a local USGA Qualifier, or if you have your heart set on being one of the world’s best players one day, are you prepared to forever abandon your Belly Putter, or the long putter you hard holding hard pressed against your chest?  Anchoring your putter will be taboo for you, sooner than later, and you need to get a jump on this change now before January rolls along.  Click Here for a fully detailed PDF, created by the USGA, which will assist you with defining what is and is not legal, related to anchoring your putter, as of January 1, 2016.
